Peace

But if this election is to have lasting meaning, we cannot see a Biden campaign victory as license to cast away politics as a presence in our daily lives. ~ Anand Giridaradas NY Times, 11-7-20

This election has a lasting meaning from 2016 and politics as a presence in our daily lives has been instilled in us – by the powers that be.

Four years of name calling, mocking, disrespecting and hating should now come to a screeching halt simply because those who did not support President Trump have had an epiphany and decided it is time to call for healing.  I said epiphany – I meant got what they thought they wanted.

Nine months of a pandemic that has yet to be pinned down with absolute certainty how it came into being will suddenly be “managed with efficiency” and our lives restored.

Health care for everyone will be made a priority despite the evidence of escalating costs to each and every subscriber of Obamacare (which, on its face was a great idea).

If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have a magic wand that they plan to wave over the American people to fix all that is wrong I for one can’t wait to see them kick into gear.  But I’m not holding my breath.

The fact is – Joe and Kamala (as they affectionately refer to each other) have built a campaign win on prompting people to vote early – by mail, with absolutely no overall strategy to process those votes in an efficient manner.  Is it criminal?  I have no evidence to support that.  What I do have is a head full of doubt because of all the I’s that were not dotted and t’s that were not crossed in the plan.  Again, like Obamacare which was a wonderful initiative, having servers malfunction or as was the case 8 years ago – crash – because of the unsuspected volume of what it needed to manage.  Really? A mandate is put into place stating that everyone who does not already have health insurance needs to sign up for Obamacare or be penalized at the end of each year and what? – they had no idea how many people that was referring to?

So, plans are put out for the whole of America to lap up like hungry puppies but the overall execution of the plan is weak and when it fails, dare anyone question the legitimacy of it. And then, after only one year, the low cost of that same insurance that was so affordable and attractive everyone took the bait skyrocketed and most could not continue carrying it despite the threat of the fine if they didn’t.

A common complaint against Trump was, “he has no plan.”  But Democrats have continually claimed to have a plan and what they had was a half plan.  The plan was launched but the execution needed work (to say the least).

I have watched Joe Biden fondle any young girl within his reach; stumble through speaking engagements while those who counted on his victory so heavily applauding him as a confident speaker.  Then, we have his running mate – a woman whose career began on her back underneath (and I do mean underneath) former San Francisco Mayor and State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown for a period of time between 1994 to 1995. In his capacity as speaker, Brown appointed her to two political posts — first to the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and then to the Medical Assistance Commission.  My objection is not that Mr. Brown was married.  Like Bill Clinton, that is between he and his wife to sort out.  AND, for the record it has been stated that Mr. Brown and his wife were estranged at the time.  But no matter how you slice it, Kamala’s career was launched by sleeping her way in.  Worse yet was her prosecutorial manipulation.  But all that is in the past.  We don’t care about that now – right?

Speaking only of the present:  Kamala Harris despite being first to drop out of the race for the Democratic nomination for President found herself tapped by the Democratic party to carry votes to the ticket that they felt Biden either needed and could not get on his own or to balance out the ticket by demonstrating their willingness to have a woman in a position of power in the United States is now one sneeze away from the highest office in the land and she is the first woman to do so.  Therefore, should she take a wrong step or in plain English – fuck this up – another woman will not see the light of day in this position for one hundred years to come and Kamala Harris will be the poster child for WHY we cannot let that happen again.

I am seeing post after post after post of glee that we can now breathe a sigh of relief that order will be restored to the white house.  Well, here’s my cliff notes from the cheap seats:

When Obama left office ISIS was cutting off the heads of every American they could get their hands on; there was still fighting in the middle east; Jerusalem was not recognized as the capital of Israel and Kim Jong Un was threatening us weekly. We were working towards peace and love becoming a reality….but because nobody liked the guy in the white house, so it wasn’t enough. Where there was no peace was inside the USA. People hated Trump, referred to him by name calling and slander every chance they got and gave no credit where any was due. But NOW that the so-called end is in sight we should all join hands and sing Kumbaya? Is that what is meant by peace???

You will pardon me if I don’t embrace this breathe of fresh air you are dancing about.  I will not name call.  I will not point fingers.   But know that this entire election is suspect to question if for no other reason than more votes were recorded than live voters registered.  It’s not common core – it’s common sense.

As for peace – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

For almost four years, those who voted for Trump (as well as Trump himself) wanted peace.  We didn’t get it.  Remember that.

Thanks for this Ellen…I always thought “The truth will set you free.” was fact but…EXCEPT IN POLITICS! We shall see. Let’s face it, Biden/Harris we’re going to be elected!…the bets and cheating were in a long time ago and was absolutely was going to happen! When you have the Media censoring and only reporting a certain narrative, truth and fairness never has a chance and won’t in the future.

The reality is, once accepted it becomes the norm and that will truly be when our constitution is no longer law. Accepted or not, I believe that those who see the ‘wrongness’ of things must speak out.

Here are a few thoughts. Instead of expecting our so called “leaders” and the government to solve all of society’s ills, how about each of us doing our part to be part of the solution and not the problem?

Have empathy for others. Most people’s views are based on THEIR life experiences. Until you’ve walked in their shoes or try to see the world from their point of view, don’t be so quick to judge.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. You get what you give.

Don’t blame others when things in your life don’t turn out the way you want. You made those decisions through free will and have to live with them. Cause and effect.

Get involved in activities that can uplift people. Get involved in activities that make you happy.

Learn as much as you can about other cultures so you don’t fall victim to lies and propaganda promoted by people who profit from hate and division.

And lastly, don’t fixate on the negative. I believe the vast majority of people on this planet simply want to go about their lives in peace. I’ve crossed paths with people from all over the world and considered it a blessing to be able to learn as much from them about their lives as they learned from me about mine.

Thank you for your thoughts. In response, the first step in doing “our” part to solve society’s ills is identifying them – do you agree? Secondly, I have seen way too many (and I was there at one) pictures or videos of Joe Biden handling young girls clearly making them uncomfortable for me to simply focus on the good he may do. A character flaw of mine – but I cannot get past it. I am not blaming anyone for things not turning out the way “I” want. I am making an observation that this election was not managed in a means by which many of the American voters have confidence in its outcome. Further to my point – I vote in the state of Alabama. There is no doubt in my mind that my vote (and everyone else’s here) was managed in the best and most efficient means possible. We didn’t mysteriously “find” mailed in ballots at 3:00 am; we did not have a “glitch” with our electronic recording methods flipping votes cast for one candidate to the other and we did not have more votes than we had living registered voters. I made no mention of not accepting the outcome either. So, dare I say I believe your retort is based on the assumption that I have sour grapes about the election and that is the reason for this writing. It is not. Despite 2020 being an uphill challenge in all respects, I have embraced my 2020 and made the absolute best of it with many personal high points. I agree with you whole-heartedly that the vast majority of people on this planet simply want to go about their lives in peace. Sadly, I believe that the handful of those in power who prefer to adhere to their own agenda rather than the wishes of the people will cause that not to be true. In any case – I wish you peace and appreciate your thoughts. I also value you as a reader so thank you for your input.

Ellen another great read. Personally, and equally upsetting to me was the silence of some of our friends. They sat with their hands in their pockets while the media censored what we were all entitled to see and hear. They knew damn well that massive mail in voting would be a debacle (and it has) but stayed silent. For four years I listened to their vitriol towards a duly elected President. I watched as the Democratic Party conducted bogus investigations without any results other than to obstruct, block and resist. That was their four year plan. I never want to hear the words “country before party” from any of them again. For them it was the ends justifying the means. They got their way and let’s see if they can produce. As far as everyone coming together now it is also insulting on its face. In essence what they are saying is we are in charge now so it’s all going to be ok. It intimates that when Republicans hold a majority all in the world is bad. There always the smartest guy in the room ?‍♂️ I’m guessing you will not have any response from our friends on the left!

Everyone views things through a different lens. We must remind ourselves of that. It has crossed my mind more than a few times “WHY” don’t people see it the way I do (or we do). Can’t explain it. Nor can they explain to me why I see things the way I do. I truly wish more did as I am more than concerned for the future of this country for myself, my children, grandchildren, etc. Just remember: Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.

I agree we all see things through a different lens but IMO we should all be on the same page when discussing such topics as freedom of speech, censorship, being spied on because of ones politics, being audited by the IRS because of ones politics, the silence by the media when they refuse to cover a story because of their political ideals. Being silent on these matters is putting your party before the country and IMO that’s despicable
