ZERO Discrimination

Only had to bust out this get along shirt a few times during a sibling fight and found it to be highly effectiv… | Get along shirt, Sibling fighting, Sibling shirts

Whether or not you are a member of the LGTBQ community, one thing that can be appreciated is everyone’s basic human need to be “included.”  It is not about gender.  It is not about race.  It’s not about whether or not you are an athlete.  It’s even more than simple popularity.  Every single person needs to be seen, to be heard, to be valued for what he/she brings to the table.

If you are reading the newspapers, watching news on television or keeping up with politics on social media, you would take away that the Democratic party of the United States are the gatekeepers on equality for all and the Republicans simply do not subscribe to anything that does not fall under the stipulations set forth in the Bible.

Is that true?  Is that even remotely accurate?  No!!!

There are people on both sides of the aisle that are Christians.  People who claim to be living according to God’s law – even if by saying God’s law we are referring to God as they worship.  There are people from all walks of life, all ethnic backgrounds, all races, all creeds on both sides of the aisle.

What I am wondering about is this:  Does Zero Discrimination include party affiliation?  I am specifically referring to the not so discreet feud between President Trump and Speaker Pelosi.

Pelosi and Trump have not spoken since the House speaker got up and walked out of a heated White House meeting in October 2019. (Jacobs, 2020)

Seriously?  I have not made much of a secret of my support for Trump.  However, I would very much like to take these two and put them into a big “get-along” shirt and tell them until they work out this stimulus BS they are not to take it off.  But even larger than this….does ZERO discrimination include absolutely everything and everyone on the planet EXCEPT those members of the opposing political viewpoint?

We the people have taken the notion of do as I say – not as I do as far as is humanly possible without breaking it like a dry-rotted rubber band stretched beyond its limit.

I have many friends that are Democrats.  I love them (and I hope they love me).  They, as Americans, have the right to vote as their conscience steers them.  I do not exhaust myself trying to persuade them to vote for the candidate “I” prefer.  I vote.  The chips (or votes) fall where they may.  As I have been told 1000’s of times in my life, what makes this country great is the diversity we have.  Really?  Is Diversity and Inclusion a term that only pertains to race, sexual orientation and ethnic background and in no way does it pertain to party affiliation?

If none of this makes any sense to you, (and by you I am referring to Democrat and Republican representatives serving in Washington) try this on for size.  DO YOUR JOBS!  Let me be even more clear:  Your job is:

The Senate maintains several powers to itself: It ratifies treaties by a two-thirds supermajority vote and confirms the appointments of the President by a majority vote. The consent of the House of Representatives is also necessary for the ratification of trade agreements and the confirmation of the Vice President. (thewhitehouse.gov, 2020)

In short:  Your job is to represent the people in your respective districts and work towards AGREEMENTS for the good of our nation and its people.  If you are refusing to open your minds and do the work that is required to see other points of view – you are in dereliction of duty and should be removed from said position.

As a side note, one thing that has particularly irritated me about politics is that people are elected into their positions for terms and are pretty much in that position for the duration regardless of their ability or performance.  If I had my way, refusing to speak to members across the aisle would result in your immediate termination.

Stop your endless pontificating and make a point for God’s sake.  Talk to your counterparts.  LEARN TO GET ALONG.  Zero Discrimination begins with YOU!!!!
